From Computational Design to Physical Construction
Beyond Digital explores the relationship between computational design and physical construction, questioning why many digitally generated forms remain confined to virtual environments. While tools such as Grasshopper enable the rapid production of complex geometries, this project emphasizes the importance of grounding digital processes in material, scale, and constructability.
Rather than treating digital tools as ends in themselves, the project repositions them as instruments for structuring design logic and decision-making. Through iterative modeling and physical prototyping, the work examines how algorithmic definitions can translate into buildable systems. Materials, assembly methods, and repetition become essential parameters from the early stages of design.
The exhibition presents a series of computational objects and spatial experiments that bridge the gap between digital abstraction and physical realization. By confronting the limitations and possibilities of both realms, the project proposes a design approach that integrates digital thinking with real-world constraints, ultimately expanding the role of computation in architecture.
