감각하는 경계
이 프로젝트는 ‘경계’를 고정된 선이 아닌, 모호하고 유동적인 감각적 상태로 탐구한다. 기존의 건축이 명확한 물리적 구분에 의존하는 것과 달리, 이 작업은 촉각, 청각, 온도, 습도, 공기의 흐름과 같은 다양한 감각을 통해 공간의 경계를 인지하는 방식을 제안한다.

설계는 종이 접기 방식에서 출발하여, 하나의 평면이 최소한의 조작으로 다양한 공간으로 변형되는 구조를 구현한다. 이러한 접힌 구조는 내부와 외부를 동시에 차단하고 드러내며, 외부에서는 보호된 공간으로 인식되지만 내부에서는 개방된 시선과 환경을 경험할 수 있게 한다.

자연과 인공 환경이 교차하는 사이트에 배치된 이 파빌리온은 서로 다른 감각적 환경을 매개한다. 경계를 흐리고, 사용자가 몸으로 공간의 변화를 경험하도록 유도함으로써, 경계를 고정된 선이 아닌 유연하고 경험적인 조건으로 재해석한다.

Sensing the Boundary

This project explores the idea of boundary as something ambiguous, fluid, and perceptual rather than fixed and visually defined. While conventional architecture often relies on clear physical divisions, this work investigates how boundaries can be experienced through multiple senses—such as touch, sound, humidity, and airflow—beyond vision.

The design develops from folding techniques, where a single surface transforms into complex spatial conditions through minimal physical manipulation. These folded structures simultaneously block and reveal, creating a layered relationship between interior and exterior. From the outside, the space appears enclosed and protected, while from within, it allows visual openness and environmental connection.

Situated along a transitional site between natural and urban conditions, the pavilion mediates different sensory environments. By blurring spatial limits and allowing users to actively perceive changes through their bodies, the project proposes a flexible and dynamic interpretation of boundary as an experiential condition rather than a static line.
